The first Nkabom African Food Celebration brought the vibrant flavours, traditions and entrepreneurial spirit of Africa to life. Held on McGill University’s campus, the event welcomed guests on a culinary journey across the continent, featuring dishes and drinks from countries including Madagascar, Nigeria, Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Attendees enjoyed a wide variety of foods, from jollof rice and attiéké to African-inspired street foods, snacks and refreshing beverages. A live cooking demonstration added an interactive element to the celebration, offering guests the opportunity to learn about the ingredients, techniques and cultural stories behind many of the featured dishes.

Beyond the food, the event highlighted the creativity and innovation of African entrepreneurs. Vendors showcased a diverse range of products, including fresh juices, plants, fashion, jewellery and beauty products. Their businesses reflect the growing impact of African entrepreneurship in creating jobs, expanding markets and introducing African products and ideas to new audiences.

The celebration was further energized by live drumming and music, creating a festive atmosphere that brought people together through culture, community and shared experiences. The event reflected Nkabom’s commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs, strengthening networks and fostering opportunities that contribute to economic growth and cultural exchange.
